The Municipality of Sami is positioned on the east coast of Cephalonia, numbering 2,297 residents and covers an area of ​​129,326 acres.

Sami is the most important port of the island. The area combines an extended coastline and interesting inland.

On the beach, you can find landscapes of particular aesthetic value, such as the beach Antisamos, the Palioras and the small lake Karavomylos.

Sami's area is full of interesting geological phenomena. They have recorded 17 cave sites, with great interest on the prehistory of the region. Today two caves are accessible to the public: the limnospilaio Melissani and Zervati in Karavomylos and the Drogarati cave on the way to the Haliotata village.

In addition within a distance of 200m from Melissani Hotel, you can find the ancient thermal spa (Rakospito). Finally, in the area of Sami you can find Castle of Sami upon the hill of Sami (1.5 km) and St. Fanentes area. Both sights are connected with hiking paths starting from the doorstep of our hotel.
